If you like to pay close attention to trends interior design trends online, in the Parade of Homes or on the Artisan Home Tour, you may have noticed by now that black windows are being used more frequently than they ever have been. One common thread behind many trends that you might notice is embracing nature and natural materials. We are seeing this expressed in trends like stained wood cabinetry, quartz/granite waterfall edges and backsplashes, natural stone patterned tiles, etc.
Recently, we have seen several of our homeowners choose to go with black windows when making selections in our Design Studio. Our Design Studio Specialists has also selected black windows in several of our model homes. Below is an example!
One reason that black windows are trending is because they help accentuate the views of nature from your windows! Here is why: The color white reflects light back to your eyes, and black absorbs light. That is why white objects pop out in your vision and are easy to see, and darker objects tend to recede in your vision, letting you focus on your gorgeous views.
One variation of the black window trend that has been popular is black windows on the outside with white windows on the inside. Black windows definitely make a sharp and rich looking exterior aesthetic. One reason this two-toned window trend has been popular is because most people are accustomed to whit windows on the interior. I would like to propose that black interior windows can really compliment almost any interior style and really elevate the look of your home!
Some black windows are large picture windows that have a very clean and contemporary look. You can also select gridded black windows! Gridded black windows give so much character. They are so versatile and can feel very sophisticated in a traditional or contemporary home. Come check out our newest model home in Maple Grove to see black windows in action!
