We all know that kitchen is the heart of the home. Throughout the years, we see so many kitchen trends cycle through. In the last few years, we saw things like farmhouse kitchen sinks, industrial spring faucets, lots of white cabinets, subway tile, oversized pendant lights, dark painted or stained islands, light greys and navy blues. All of those design features are still gorgeous, relevant, fun, and very much used in new builds!
At the same time, it is easy to see that the nature of design trends is cyclical, that’s part of the fun of it! There is such a wide variety of different styles that will have their moment in the spotlight. Designing your home is all about embracing what you like and what makes your house feel like your home. If you feel attracted to a trend, I say go for it! Almost every trend will eventually end up feeling dated in a handful of years anyways. Chances are that you have unique taste and that not every trend piques your interest, but some do! I like to advise people to embrace the trends that they do like because you are attracted to it for a reason… it's your style! More details on our Design Studio here.
With that being said, do you ever find yourself curious about kitchen trends that are on the rise? The design team at Creative Homes does! Here are just a few kitchen trends that we see are popular and becoming more and more common.
1. Slab Style Cabinets
As trends lean further into the cleaner shapes and modern styles, we are loving the slab style cabinet. This cabinet style means that all of the doors and drawer fronts have no additional detailing. This looks especially sharp when the cabinets extend to the ceiling! It acts as a clean blank slate so that your countertop, backsplash and lighting can do all the talking. 2. Black Stainless Appliances
We are loving black stainless steel. This finish option has been around for a few years now, but it has slowly and steadily becoming a more common choice. We love that it is not as bright as the traditional stainless steel. Anything darker tends to recede in your vision. Black stainless appliances look best when they are surrounded by black (painted or stained) cabinets that they can visually disappear in, making your kitchen feel even more luxurious. 3. Gold Metal
This is a fun one!! Gold metals has also been around for a few years now, but we don’t see it going away anytime soon. It pairs beautifully with so many colors and definitely compliments the lighter wood flooring colors that are commonly used. Gold metals bring some color and life to your kitchen, it feels luxurious and accentuates the warm tones in a home.
4. Stained Cabinets
Stained cabinets are gorgeous! We have been mixing and matching different stain colors in the same kitchens. Stained cabinets are a great way to bring warmth into your home. We love embracing the natural maple wood patterning. Stain colors can feel very contemporary when they are done in a slab style cabinet. You can brighten up your kitchen by pairing stained cabinets with a lighter color countertop and backsplash. 5. Quartz Backsplashes & Waterfall Edges
Quartz, quartz, quartz! It is so easy to fall in love with the expansive veining pattern of a beautiful quartz countertop. That’s why we love to extend the quartz all the way down the sides of the island and all the way up the backsplash. As opposed to tile, quartz is a more durable solution because there are no grout lines to clean between. Extended quartz features bring a feeling of flow and simplicity to your kitchen.
